 Nothing beats a Fall field trip at The Applebarn Pumpkin Farm. The fresh Autumn air and the smell of new apples coupled with a dazzling display of seasonal colours is something no one should miss. Corinne and Farmer John, both certified school teachers, have been working with teachers to provide a first class educational school tour since 1991 at the Taves' farm. Not only do the children learn about the life cycles of apples, pumpkins and honey bees, they also get to enjoy a hay ride to the pumpkin patch and a time to hug the goats and pet the bunnies. The old fashioned apple sorting machine is another unique feature of our tour where kids watch how in yesteryear apples were sized from small to large. A slice of a crunchy farm grown apple and a cup of freshly pressed pasteurized cider is always a welcome treat after viewing the cider press and learning how apples and cider are produced here on the farm. **Tours take about 1½ hours, but if time allows the children will enjoy an extra 15 minutes to ½ hour to play on the playground and jump pillow. (Our farm is in Abbotsford, on Gladwin Road off of Huntingdon road, near the US border. We are about 10-15 minutes from Abbotsford schools, 25-35 minutes from Langley and Mission schools, and 35-50 minutes from Surrey schools.)
